UPDATE #2 On April 2nd I decided to reorganize the list globally (instead of North America and the rest of the world) to reflect Cancellations vs. Postponements. This is in anticipation of adding a secondary Postponed THEN Cancelled list when some of the earlier postponements (like May/June) cancel or get postponed again. I honestly hope I’m wrong on that happening, though.

I went to E3 early in the 2010s, either 2012 or 2013, and the photo in this post is the t-shirt I got there. At the time I was still new to going to geek events in Los Angeles, but there I was: walking around jet lagged while downing free energy drinks being given away happily by logo-clad women at booths outside the LACC.

Then, this morning, E3 announced they were cancelling due to the coronavirus (aka COVID-19.) 

For the past two weeks I have been on phone calls and messenger chats about the impact of this virus (now a pandemic) on pop culture events. My answer at the end of each conversation?

“This narrative changes every 48 hours.”

In line with that I’ve decided to try to create a master list that I will keep editing of “geek” events that are canceling, being cancelled, or being postponed for the pseudo-selfish reason of maintaining the info I need in work conversations right now.
