This week. It was a week. And my arm hurts.
I’m exhausted. Yesterday I got my first of the two shots required for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine. For those of you that know me personally, this was a whole ordeal for me since I have suffered from a pretty severe phobia of needles since I was a child.
It’s done, though, and I was doubly fatigued from the combination of stressing the whole day about it and then mild side effects. (“Mild side effects” being feeling tired and drained.)
The day before that? I had a dentist’s appointment: my OTHER phobia that exists as an extension of the previous phobia. Going anywhere like this right now is obviously even more stressful due to COVID-19 and, knowing that I am now getting the vaccine, the last thing I want to do is to catch it via carelessness prior to being inoculated. I want to be that asshole that didn’t catch it and be able to emphasize how not hard wearing a mask, social distancing, and just not be self-centered jerk like the people at my grocery store was.
Fuck you maskless lady standing in line behind me at Publix.
Oh, and the day before THAT one? Tuesday? Well, months of planning and preparation paid off as Wasabi Anime got to use its typically dormant InvaderCON brand to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the premiere of the Invader ZIM television series. Here’s the final result:
Pretty cool, right? Well, “cool” if you’re an aging emo/scene kid swimming in the nostalgia of your Hot Topic days. Invader ZIM fandom is an eclectic and colorful group, and it’s been fun being a continued part of it over the years.
And the day BEFORE THAT? Monday? Wasabi Anime launched a long-in-production limited series on Twitch with the team at Harmony Gold showcasing the cultural impact and fandom behind the television series Robotech. The premiere episode of anything is always stressful and the only way to find any “unforeseens” in the development process.
So here I am on Friday afternoon trying to wake up from an unplanned nap before another meeting with coffee in hand. For a lack of in-person conventions right now, I seem to find myself extremely busy lately. I see it as a blessing, though, instead of a curse.
Three more weeks, and a little prick in the arm again, and I think I’ll start feeling better about life again.
ADDED NOTE: Sorry, Candy. I haven’t been able to figure out the Wordpress login integration issue yet. But I’m working on it!
