I should have stayed a Star Trek Geek… they’re less vicious

So I get a call tonight from Roy at MetroCon. He informs me that I have some “interesting” responses to a thread in my LiveJournal. It turns out someone has taken the thread I started featuring the two Final Fantasy Cosplayers from MetroCon and did some “ghetto photoshopping” to make it look like they were topless. (I’d seen better work on faked Britney Spears pics.)

The pic was removed with a retraction statement about how tasteless it was.

Then I check my e-mail and it’s got two love letters in it:

The first from Maboroshi very curtly telling me to remove the thread. No “hi” or “how’s life”. It was almost kind of rude which is very unlike him. I wrote back saying that the offending pic in the thread had been removed.

The second was from Aaron “Squall” McKnight who told me not only did he not appreciate the pics, but he also threatened legal action if they weren’t removed. For fuck’s sake, doesn’t anyone just “ask” things anymore, or is it always “threats”? Since the pic was already gone, I found no need to remove the e-mail.

I decided to research into it all a little more, though. While digging around for opinions on the situation from the girls in the pic (through mutual friends) I found out that one of them hadn’t even seen my LiveJournal yet.  Supposedly, she had a great attitude about it and could “care less” about the thread. Note: the fake nudie pic is a whole different scenario; when she learned about it and that I had removed it she did say “thanks.”

During this time, I also got an IM from Mr. Squall. We talked at length about how much nicer it is when people just ask and not order. He seems like good people, and was merely trying to come to the aid of his ex-girlfriend’s honor (the blond one in the pic.) After much discussion, the following accord was reached:

Wasabi Anime: Would making the thread “friends only” solve the issue in your eyes? Hence taking it out of public view?
The Blue Paradox: I would definately appreciate it.
Wasabi Anime: Consider it done.

See how easy that was?

******************************************

So what did we learn from all this?

1. Asking is better than ordering. Happy people do happy things.
2. You should never photoshop girls in bikinis into being nude unless (a.) you can actually use photoshop and (b.) they are Britney Spears.
3. Waaaaaaaay too many people read my LiveJournal out there. Hence I need to try to be at least a little more entertaining.

Comment away. :)

Transformers: Energon

Thanks kell_dragon for the heads up…

Looks like there’s another Transformers show on the horizon. Details are sketchy, but from what I’ve heard it sounds like it could suck as bad as Armada. :(

At least Ravage is a cat again:

We shall see…

Of course, there’s the anniversary edition Prime (not an Energon fig… buy fucking awesome):

Speaking of 15 minutes of fame…

Wow… looks like my sorry ass made it into this month’s NewType magazine. See where playing with Transformer game systems at the ripe old age of 29 will get you?
[NOTE: Original image that was here is missing]

Looks like Dade was right… it’s getting to be that you can’t turn your head without hearing “Wasabi”… as shown here…
[NOTE: Original image that was here is missing]

(kudos to the boys at Sushi for getting mentioned, too.)
[NOTE: Original image that was here is missing]

Of course… NONE of this would have happened without JACO‘s kick ass convention. Thanks again Mr. Snackpants.

YASUMICON report later or tomorrow… it was a blast :)
