Matrix Reloaded review (w/ spoilers)
5(this was also posted on the forums on www.wasabianime.com)
Okay… saw it.
Entertained… but disappointed.
WARNING! THIS CONTAINS A COUPLE OF MINOR SPOILERS! DON’T READ UNTIL YOU’VE SEEN IT!
DISAPPOINTMENT #1: In the first Matrix, when we saw the Matrix’s reality, you were given the feeling of the “real world.” Neo’s apartment. The club. The street at night. In this one, they lost suspension of disbelief for that concept because (it would seem) that the new Matrix reality cosists of uber-cool restaurants, castles in the middle of nowhere, a super highway, and numerous abandoned warehouses.
DISAPPOINTMENT #2: I hit on this one my Wasabi Anime forum review, too… more guns. Less Kung Fu. It’s fun to see some good ol’ fashioned ass kicking, but showing nothing BUT constant 3-D fighting with special effects in slow motion is becoming a bit passe.
DISAPPOINTMENT #3: The sad sad urge to stoop to silly comic effects. Who the hell came up with the obvious and lame idea to put in a bowling pin sound effect during the attack of the Smiths? Bad call. Very bad.
END SPOILER FILLED STUFF
So was The Matrix Reloaded a good movie? Sure. Was it as good as it could have been? Hell no. This is no Empire Strikes Back boy and girls.
I miss my Apple IIc
8I’ve spent so much time on a computer over the past month, it’s almost scary. Here’s where everything stands:
1. Going to see Matrix Reloaded tonight at 10:00 PM.
2. WasabiAnime.com is just about complete. Check it out if you haven’t yet, and please give comments. A good couple months of our life was spent on this (Kevin the webmaster and myself,) so we’d like it to be as close to perfect as possible. We even has some cool buttons thanks to the local artist talent in the community (thanks Cowkitty!)
3. Still not past the three hour mark of Xenosaga.
4. One week until Buffy goes buh-bye. Then Shannon will be forced to live her Vampire Slaying life through our three DVD box sets.
5. The Wasabi Anime viewing rooms at JACON are going to ROCK! (Details on the site soon.)
6. Work is getting better… but still not back to 100%.
7. I’m in my first online college course. Intro to Screenwriting. Very cool so far.
’nuff said.

2Next on the agenda… I’m glad I listened to myself and didn’t try to burden myself with too much work lately. Why? Because I got a “B” in my class. Not bad for never studying and half reading the chapters. At this rate, I should have a degree before I’m 40!
Kudos to Shannon, who took two classes this semester… and landed and “A” and a “B”.
“Yes, (s)he can be taught!” – Genie, from Aladdin.

0So work sucks.
This time of year is slow for computer sales to begin with, and that pesky “little war thing” also put a damper on the industry. My company, like so many others, is cutting back and I’m seeing my friends around me at work jump ship to other jobs.
I don’t want to leave. I like my job. It’s easy. I have fun with it. They’re cutting hours, though, and I have three days off next week. I’m almost to the point of being worried. Almost…
I say that with hope and thankfulness, though, as two of my friends are suffering the unemployment life right now. It’s tough, and it sucks… yet I respect the both of you (and you two know who you are) for keeping such great attitudes through this. Times don’t define people… their actions do, and you two prove that superbly.

2So the amount of time I’ve spent online in the past week is staggering, but I haven’t written a single thing in my livejournal. I attribute this to two reasons. First, livejournal.com is blocked by my work’s I.T. department. Second, when I’m at home, all I’m doing is working on the Wasabi Anime website…
Yes, boys and girls, a massively huge WasabiAnime.com is on the verge of popping out thanks to the slaving efforts of our new webmaster Kevin. This next incarnation (version 4.0) is what I had envisioned when I came up with this mess two years ago.
The club has expanded perfectly and now has the driving force of a lot of talent and brilliant minds operating it. It gets hard to remember to say this when we’re in the midst of it all… but THANK YOU to all of you. You know who you are
Be sure to swing by the site on May 7th… probably in the evening… and see what we’ve cooked up.
