Pop culture conventions run year round, but there is a busy season. It typically kicks off on Memorial Day (end of May) and wraps up by the beginning of September – Labor Day. With the ever increasing amount of events, however, my schedule has crept further and further out of that range. Next year I have a couple of events, but then “season” will kick off in April and end in October.
Where are I going with this?
I’m in the (alleged) off-season right now when I get to catch up on planning, paperwork, and some relaxation time at home. This time, though, the abundance for work has grown significantly and my workload for this “off time” is damn near insane. Today I confirmed a couple more events officially putting the count for next year to:
- 8 definites.
- 4 probables.
- 4 potentials in discussion.
That’s a possibility of 16 conventions, plus at least 2 other trips related to convention work (in contracts) – means I’ll be back on the road for about 20 trips again this year.
Which leads me to what I’m doing right now: ignoring it all and watching season two of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. That’s right, kid. The guy who lives the life of anime fans loved Gilmore Girls when it was on and the same people are behind Mrs. Maisel. If you’re not watching this show, you’re missing out… if only to get the chance to learn who Lenny Bruce was. (Even if it’s a fictional version of him.)
Random, but this WAS a Thursday update. So goodnight.
