I don’t know it’s a mild form of OCD, but I have a fixation on watching things (and sometimes re-watching) things to completion. The incorporation of iTunes as our primary media collection at home has made this MUCH easier since I can continue watching something when I’m away from home. More specifically: at the gym. Some “watch ’em all” series have been complicated, while others have been pretty straight forward. Here are recent rabbit holes I’ve jumped down the past few years…
ACADEMY AWARD BEST PICTURE WINNERS
Based on a search of my blog, I actually started this project in 2007 and (to date) I have watched 38 movies on the list (the most recent being ). My last update about this was in 2014. I have a few Blu-rays sitting on standby for a rainy day right now. Hopefully I’ll get back to this soon.
This was something Shannon and I recently completed (last August) thanks to a sale on iTunes during Christmas of 2014. It was great to have all of them completed before seeing Spectre in theaters. To date: Skyfall is still my favorite with From Russia With Love at a close second.
QUINTEN TARANTINO FILMS
With The Hateful Eight in theaters, we were treated to a sale of Tarantino movies on iTunes, so we just started this re-watching recently. Shannon survived the “ear scene” in Reservoir Dogs, but that’s as far as we are at this point. I’m sure we’ll watch Pulp Fiction again soon, though. (For the record, I have never seen Jackie Brown.)
STAR TREK MOVIES
Another marathoning of movies based on an iTunes sale. I recently completed re-watching all of the Star Trek movies. Some I hadn’t seen since their theatrical release (like Star Trek Nemesis.) Some I had forgotten because they were so incredibly bad (like Star Trek Nemesis.)
Forthcoming projects: I want to watch, in order, all of the Disney animated films. Same for Pixar. After all of these: I really want to watch all of the Alfred Hitchcock films. I’ve probably only see a fraction of them.
