No, really. I am.
You see – this post is dated January 12th – but I’m really writing it on January 16th and backdating it. It’ll post today (the 16th) and you’re reading it today, but it is (from a narrative point a view) writing from the future.
I told myself that I’d make sure I blogged and exercised at least once a day starting on my 42nd birthday. I knew going into it, it would be an arduous task. The best of intentions in a hectic life, however, sometimes can fall victim to lack of energy and sleep.
This weekend is Otronicon in Orlando, Florida and Florida Anime Experience has a pretty major presence there. Throw in the fact that bona fide pre-production started on Gen Con this week, and the add in the fact that Talent For Cons is at Magic City Comic Con this weekend… but wait, there’s MORE!
Remember: Karma the Dog is still dealing with a heap of medical issues which takes time, and Shannon came home from her Disney Marathon with a HORRIBLE case of food poisoning.
Life has been somewhat exhausting.
That, folks, is when you hit the “reset” button. You stop, assess the damage, and look to see what can be done to repair/catch up. So here’s the count:
- I need five extra days (hours) at the gym.
- I need four more blog posts after this.
It’s Saturday morning. I just got back from a vet appointment for Karma (more about that later) and then I plan to take her for a walk (in her stroller) to the local farmer’s market. After that: an hour at the gym – maybe two if time permits.
Then I need to hit the road and go back to Orlando for Otronicon. (My shift starts at 5:00 PM.) Then I will spend the night, work again tomorrow morning and drive home Sunday afternoon.
In the interim? I can pen a few blog posts and start playing catchup.
It’s life. It’s not perfect – and all you can do is work to make it work.
