And you thought your Monday was exciting. I have to skirt some of the details in this blog post because he hasn’t gone public yet. Per his communication, he will fully be “she” by mid-summer.
The email he sent was long, in depth, and very touching in regards to the pain he endured prior and during our years of friendship. It was remarkably candid and a solid reminder that everyone has things going on – even if you personally don’t see it or know about it. In the email he said he opted to write out the words instead of calling to talk since he thought it would be “awkward”. He offered to talk/e-mail further if there were gaps in his explanation I felt were missing.
The email, though, was also in italics. The whole thing.
Here’s my response to him I sent this morning (with key parts blurred to conceal his identity.)
Dear Sir or Madam:
(SEE WHAT I DID THERE? COMEDY GOLD!)
I don’t care if you’re gay, straight, bisexual, bipolar, transexual, transgender, or a Trans Am… never, EVER, send me an email written fully in italics. That’s just fucking cruel.
In regards to the e-mailing or calling – what’s there to be awkward about? You are you. Male. Female. Alien. I totally don’t give a shit (in a good way). You’re my friend, and as long as you’re finding happiness without causing harm to others – then I’m happy for you.
As far as filling in the “gaps” – there are none to fill as far as I’m concerned. [Male you & I] had may [great escapades,] and I’m sure I’ll relive them with my friend [female you] no differently.
No questions. No judgements. Just joy that you are finding peace and happiness.
Keep me posted or drop me a line if you need to chat. As you know (thank’s to the Internet) my life is a busy hell right now – but I always do my best to make time for my friends.
Much love from Florida,
