(While this blog is backdated 12/20/15, I actually wrote it the morning of the 21st. You will see why in a moment.)
I had the editing window open on my blog last night ready to write my daily tale about something when I heard my wife watching TV in the other room.
“Oh my God,” she said. “He announced the wrong winner.”
“What,” I asked? Last I heard, she was pulling up Elementary from On-Demand.
“Steve Harvey just announced the wrong winner on Miss Universe.”
I’ll spare you the PAINFULLY awkward details be forwarding you to another link. Here’s one: http://mashable.com/2015/12/20/steve-harvey-miss-universe-2015/
(The video on Mashable’s site has the key parts.)
Then Steve made it just a little more painful with this tweet (which he has since deleted):
In his rush to respond – he misspelled both “Phillipines” and “Colombia”.
Overall, I’m torn on this.
Steve Harvey seems like a nice enough guy – but I’ve never really been a fan due to his stance on atheists, gays, and gender roles. Here’s a great video that illustrates his base mentality… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az0BJRQ1cqM
Yeah – not a great human being.
THAT SAID, he made a mistake. I’ve hosted events for YEARS and mistakes like that DO happen. The difference is: he was paid a significant amount of money to professionally do that… and failed.
The proverbial “you had one job.”
Even worse? He game Donald Trump ammo:
Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!
