Back in the late 1990s, I was working at both Universal Studios Florida and the Walt Disney World resort down the road. When you work neck deep in theme parks (and when funds are limited) you tend to spend a lot of your extra time exploring. This is to help your own personal knowledge of the area and, if done right, it made for cheap entertainment.
In later years, certain traditions I had with my old clique of friends carried over into my new group (convention friends) and in 2008, we went Disney pool hopping.
It’s risky business, but fun if you do it right. You see, you go to a resort (and, sometimes, actually stay at one) and go to the swimming pool and act as if you’re a guest there. The goal? To see how many slides you can ride in one day by riding monorails and buses on property from location to location.
I think we set the record the next year (2009) – but I’ll check my numbers before that blog post.
For now, here are the videos I took with my waterproof camera of our 2008 Walt Disney World pool hopping adventure.
