I spent tonight cleaning up a Facebook page that was created to differentiate Green Mustard Entertainment from Wasabi Anime because each now serves a distinctly different function. It’s odd, though, because the new structure turns the parent into the child (similar to how JACON became more relevant than JACO back in the olden days of Central Florida anime conventions). Anyway, I figured I should map out the current “Wasabi Empire” since there are some pretty amazing expansions that have happened this year with more coming in 2015.
So here is the official structure of my hobby gone horribly wrong.
Green Mustard Entertainment, Inc. is the parent company for all projects. Currently, there are four divisions:
- Consulting & Event Services
- For Cons
- Wasabi Anime
CONSULTING & EVENT SERVICES: In the past few years, we have taken on contracts with conventions and companies looking to further develop their own businesses. Some of these are in depth (such as the development of Project Anime for the SPJA in Los Angeles) while others are more straight forward (such as tech rental for CONjure in Orlando). In all cases, our Consulting & Event Services team has provided top notch service for fellow fan businesses and organizations.
CONVENTIONS: We currently have four (4) active conventions in operation:
- Florida Anime Experience (www.florida-anime.com)
- Florida Comics Experience (www.florida-comics.com)
- PinUpalooza (www.pinupalooza.com)
- WasabiCon (www.wasabicon.com)
Conventions we have run in the past that are now retired:
Currently, we have about half a dozen convention concepts on the proverbial drawing board.
FOR CONS: There are two active entities in For Cons:
These two projects provide support for other conventions via talent booking services and celeb/cosplay photo ops. Talent is now well into its second year of production. Photos is still in the early developmental stages.
WASABI ANIME: This is our anime themed events team. WA has created and run events at some of North America’s best known conventions including Anime Expo, Anime Festival Orlando, Anime Weekend Atlanta, Florida Supercon, Gen Con, Metrocon, and dozens more. In 2013, Wasabi Anime hosted events and panels at three different conventions.
So that is, more or less, the “Wasabiverse” as it stands right now. If you’ve ever checked out any of our events, then do us a solid and like our new Facebook page…
