Those of you that have been reading (and others of you that have been involved) no doubt understand that this week has been a harrowing one. For all the negativity of the situation, though, it has been interesting to reconnect with people who I don’t have active relationships because they, too, have dealt with the issue I am now dealing with. Proof that, all differences aside, there is a bona fide “community” in anime fandom.
I got an email this morning from someone (who has asked that I keep their identity private) regarding their involvement with the parties in question. This quote drove the point home:
“Again, please know that even one of the most adamant dissenters of Tom Croom acknowledges you are doing right by this, and I do want to thank you for helping the anime community as a whole.”
Thank you… and I’m glad to see that even those of us in disagreement on other things can see when something is going terribly wrong. At this point though (and at the advice of legal counsel) – I am going to just sit back and watch it all unfold.
The saddest part of this, though, is the failure of individuals to see when others are trying to help them (as I stated in this last post) is where it all started.
On that note… the rumor.
I just had a brief conversation with someone who stated that he had word that one of the staff of Zonacon is allegedly in the hospital as of last evening due to health issues. IF THIS IS TRUE (again, I have third party information… hence it is unconfirmed), then I wish her a speedy recovery and hope all is well.
If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I’m fairly easy to contact.
