Naaaaah you should have seen me Friday. I was all over the place. And not noticeable!? I had towering red hair!
Ahh well, I promise to be more crazy at upcoming cons just for you Tom. =0)

Towering red hair at an anime con is normal. You should have dressed more freaky… like in a suit. THEN you’d get noticed!

I would never bring illegal beverages to a convention… not me! 🙂

Tom, you misspelled my lj name. Next thing I know you’ll forget who I am just like Calistrasa (who came up with this no name ettiquite thing anyway?). All I really have to say about the con was that nothing…well, viewing room aside…absoloutely nothing went as I’d planned. I won’t go into why, but…damn…I have this weird habit of missing all this fun stuff rather consistently…it’s almost too consistant, like it avoids me. Also had to leave much earlier than I’d have preferred. Had some curry, I love the stuff now…I can’t help but feel my Jacon this year kinda sucked. *shrug* oh well…

Spell check finds everything… except misspelled nicknames. 🙂

I found the first couple of cons I “worked” that I found myself annoyed by the end of the convention. Sure I got in for free, but I didn’t enjoy myself that much.

What you’ll come to find is that standard con goers tend to “go with the flow” for a convention. There’s very little pre-planning involved with that, and timing becomes an issue.

When you get more tied into the operations (and achieve anime 1337ness,) you’ll find more and more the need to schedule and pre-plan things in more more elaborate detail as opposed to previous cons.

I got a total of 6.5 hours of sleep between Friday morning and Sunday night. This was so I could plan getting things done and operational for all my responsibilities (Wasabi Table, help with the viewing room, Transformers panel, etc.) and still force in some fun.

My best advice… relax. It gets better (and easier.) In the end, though, you wind up enjoying it more when you get to step into both worlds (guest and ops.)

Your work in this JACON would be what Ken would call your “trial by fire.” It’s surviving that counts 😉

Regardless of how you feel… you did an outstanding job helping out with the convention, and I know we all appreciate it.

P.S. Caffiene is your friend. 🙂

To be honest I feel like I neglected my duties. Saturday was a conplete disaster, and I feel really bad about leaving Gecko at the table for my shift. My AMV got shafted (I knew it wasn’t going to win anything, but nobody saw it cause the contest started so late), and I left him there cause I was wondering if they were going to play it at all. I’m sorry Gecko. I felt grody all con, I have to apologize to everyone, Kathy had the brilliant idea to commute to the con from her parent’s house…an hour away. satruday night I went to sleep in the car in a parking lot, managed to wake up at 11:45, probably the only thing that went right all con. Too bad that the greenhouse effect makes you sweaty and stinky. I wound up leaving the car running for 3 hours while we slept. Not the most luxurious of accomodations, but it served it’s purpose. I apologize to the people I met on sunday, I realize that nobody probably knows who I was (I have that effect on people) but I was the stinky unnatractive guy who made himself scarce on sunday. sorry, it was embarassing 8p. Eh…I need a digital camera. or maybe I just need to remember to take mine to a con…3 years now…haven’t gotten it to a single one yet.

I really wouldn’t worry. Everyone who works a con (with as much pre-planning as is needed) knows that the best laid plans can sometimes need adjusting.

At one point, Amy covered for Greg because Greg had to cover for me earlier. Things just happen.

Just look at what didn’t go right for you at this convention, and remember it for the next. This was my 4th JACON, hence why I can muddle through it so easily without incident. Trust me… JACON 2001 was a nightmare for me. 🙂
